Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Queen Anne's & Kent Counties provides an educated, compassionate adult to advocate for the safety and well-being of children removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect.

Often the only consistent adult in the child's life, a CASA volunteer provides support and guidance as the child navigates a complex and often confusing child welfare system.  CASA volunteers handle just one or two cases at a time so they can give each child's case the sustained, personal attention he or she deserves.  CASA volunteers are highly effective in getting their recommendations accepted in court.

Because of the volunteer's detailed knowledge of the child's circumstances, their reports lead to a higher number of services being ordered for children and families.  Judges, attorneys, child welfare workers, and parents overwhelmingly report that CASA volunteers really do make a difference with the children they serve.

The Maryland-Chesapeake Chapter NAPNAP (National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practicioners), chose CASA of Queen Anne's & Kent Counties as it's Fall 2011 Charitable Donation Recipient.  Gina Friel, President of the local NAPNAP chapter, visited our office on Wednesday, November 9, delivering the donations collected for our CASA program, including gift cards and monetary donations.  We are so grateful to have been chosen as this year's recipient and can't wait to distribute all the wonderful gifts we received!
